Environmental Monitoring and Assessment Program (EMAP): This project provides for the collection of specimens of estuarine invasive species found in California, Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia. The work encompassed by this task shall directly support the 2005-2006 Region 10/ORD Regional Applied Research Effort (RARE) project entitled, "Regional transport and secondary spread of invasive species across Pacific estuaries". The task shall support the first project phase: Community-wide comparison of invasion pathways across Pacific coast estuaries. This research involves the collection of specimens of introduced species from near-shore estuarine environments for genetic analysis and subsequent population comparisons along the US West Coast. CC&R conducts geographic sampling of localities known to support populations of estuarine invasive species of concern. CC&R provides an initial assessment of species occurrences and relative abundances at collection localities throughout the US West Coast. This is supported by funding from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
